The text between a web page’s <title>... </title> elements determines what is displayed as the page title. For example:

Page title text appears in search engine results, in the tabs in browser windows and in explanatory text when sharing content on social media. In other words, this text aids visitor content comprehension and it should reflect that role.

Each page’s title should be unique. SEO-oriented research advises limiting title length to less than 60 characters to avoid truncation in search engine results.

An effective title format for higher education institutions is Page Content Description | Institution Name: that is, front loading the title with content rather than branding information.
